Papers of assistant surgeon Anita Newcomb McGee, who served as director of the Daughters of the American Revolution Hospital Corps (which became the Red Cross) and organized the Army Nurse Corps in 1901. The material concerns her assignment in Japan during the Russo-Japanese War, where she worked with prisoners of war. The collection includes manuscripts, pamphlets, reports, correspondence, reprints, news clippings, and photographs. Many documents are in Japanese. Names have been modernized.
