Medical Museum Holds Lunchtime Talk Series for SciFest 2010



Jim Cox, a retired U.S. Air Force flight surgeon and Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT) physician, appeared at the National Museum of Health and Medicine October 12, 2010 to discuss the evolution of the U.S. Air Force air evacuation system over the last decade. Cox’s talk was part of a series of lectures the Museum hosted in celebration of the USA Science & Engineering Festival, which culminated in a two-day expo on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., October 23 and 24, 2010.

Robert Armiger, a biomedical engineer at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, spoke at the National Museum of Health and Medicine on October 19, 2010. He discussed the project he is working on, which is focused on creating a neurally-controlled prosthetic arm. Armiger’s talk was part of a series of lectures the Museum hosted in celebration of the USA Science & Engineering Festival, which culminated in a two-day expo on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., October 23 and 24, 2010.

Suni Edson, assistant technical leader of the Mitochondrial Section at the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory, shared her experiences working with scientists from the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command in positively identifying U.S. service members missing from past military conflicts. Edson’s talk on October 20 was part of a series of lectures the Museum hosted in celebration of the USA Science & Engineering Festival, which culminated in a two-day expo on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., October 23 and 24, 2010.
