Surgeons in Korea
Surgeons in Korea were deployed close to the front in order to expedite treatment to injured troops. Early surgical intervention saved lives, reducing the mortality rate of wounded reaching hospitals from 4.5 percent in World War II to 2.6 percent during the Korean Conflict. Front line hospitals were only part of a complex multinational network of medical facilities located in Korea, Japan and the United States that cared for the sick and wounded during the Korean Conflict.
